Christmas Holidays: Homework Guide

Our drama school has created a special Christmas Holiday Homework Guide to keep students inspired and practicing their skills over the break. It’s the perfect way to stay creative and prepared for the New Year!

Introductory pupils (Reception-Year 2)

We have chosen some focus poems that they will be working on next term. These are marked in their notebooks. Please could they learn their 2 chosen poems over Christmas.

Verse and Prose pupils:

Please can students make sure they confidently know their lines to both pieces, and please go over word definitions. They need to practise their pieces with their teacher's feedback from the term in mind, and also please revise their theory questions. For Grade 4+ ensure you've written notes on your planned answers for each theory question and checked it with your teacher.

Reading for Performance pupils:

Please can students learn their intro/link/conclusion statements. Please type up poems/book extracts and place them in a folder or booklet (we recommend  an A5 ringbinder) . They need to practise performing their pieces with their staging, and go through their theory questions.

Acting/Shakespeare pupils:

Please can students make sure they confidently know their lines and work on staging and characterisation. Please also revise theory questions. For Grade 6+ ensure you've written notes on your planned answers for each theory question and checked it with your teacher.

Public Speaking pupils:

Pupils need to ensure they've learnt their speeches (they are allowed cue cards with some notes if they'd like). They also need to make their visual aids/posters - we encourage them to ensure these aids are large enough to be clearly seen by the examiner, and mostly visual (not too much wording). Please can they also go through theory questions. For Grade 6+ ensure you've written notes on your planned answers for each theory question and checked it with your teacher.

Notes:
