Absences & Cancellations
In the event of a missed class, please note we cannot reschedule or refund you.
If you attend in-school classes and your school year is away on a trip, please let us know one week in advance and we’ll do our best to swap your class day for that week.
In the event the teacher is unwell and has to cancel a class, we will offer to reschedule, refund or credit this session
In the event your student is sent home from school and cannot attend in-school lessons, the lesson is still charged for
In the event of school closure/’Act of God’ events (eg extreme weather conditions) we will offer an online class or a credit
Lateness - we understand sometimes students are running late and we’ll do our best to catch them up - but it is not possible to catch up on lost time, and the lesson will still need to finish promptly. If a student has not attended for the first 10 minutes of a 30 minute class, the teacher has the right to assume they will not be attending that session.
In the event a parent is running late, we will always try to be understanding - but if late collection becomes a regular occurrence, parents are 15 minutes late for collecting children an additional lesson may be charged for.
Online / In-Person Classes
Please note we offer a choice of booking in person classes at our various locations, or online remote lessons. It is not possible to attend an in-person class online or vice versa. Classes need to be booked as online specific, or in-person specific classes
For our online classes, please note we ask students to be in an appropriate space in which to conduct the lesson and pay due attention. It is not possible to run a lesson where students are joining whilst in transit/in a car. We reserve the right to terminate the lesson in that instance.
Payment Terms and Notice Period
We ask fees to be paid half a term in advance. Initially we request you pay a term upfront, and thereafter we will invoice you half termly, half a term ahead.
We will send you a breakdown of fees at the beginning of every term. Fees are due in half termly installments half a term in advance. If fees are 5 weeks overdue, a £10 late fee will be applied.
If fees have not been paid when the new half term commences, we will cancel the class.
If you wish to cancel your classes we ask for half a term’s notice period.
Exam Grading
LAMDA set minimum age criteria for each grade, which we comply with. We encourage children to excel and challenge themselves with a range of modules, helping them to develop their skills broadly and holistically setting them up for the life skills we believe to be valuable. We do not allow students to skip grades, and RM Drama sets the grade level for our student body. For more detail on grading and modules, please see the detailed exam section of the handbook.
Code of Conduct and RM Drama Policies
We reserve the right to stop a child’s class if behaviour is disruptive. You will be given two written warnings. If a third incident occurs, we will stop the class.
We ask that students attend class appropriately dressed and prepared for lessons.
If someone else is collecting your child from our lesson please ensure we are aware of this in advance
Parents are welcome to stay for the trial lesson to get a feel of the classes and ask any questions to the teacher. Thereafter, for both in-person and online lessons we ask that parents do not stay for the duration of the lesson. Students need space to develop the relationship with the teacher and fully focus on their instructions. You are of course welcome to pop in at the beginning or end of the lesson to collect notes on homework.
Our safeguarding policy, privacy policy and risk assessments are all available on request. You are also welcome to request to see your teacher’s enhanced DBS certificate (Photocopies are not permitted). All teachers undergo thorough training and checks prior to working with RM Drama.
