Half Term Homework

Well it's been a busy half term, but our classes will be stopping from Monday 27th October - Sunday 2nd November.

Over half term, here's a quick homework guide for our students:

Introductory students - no homework yet. We'll soon be selecting your showcase and festival poems to learn. But parents, don't forget to sign up for the Winter Showcase and the Watford Festival!

Verse and Prose pupils - please learn your poems and book extracts over the break.. For Grade 4+ pupils please start to make notes on your theory answers

Acting pupils -please learn your monologues over the break. Being off book makes a big difference when blocking and staging your characters after the break.

Reading for Performance pupils - please learn your intro/link/conclusions at this stage. Practise reading your books and poems but remember not to learn them this time! It would be great if you can type up your pieces and put them in a booklet/folder (we recommend A5 size)

Public Speaking pupils - please learn your speeches. You can have cue cards with some brief notes to help prompt your memory. It would be great if you can also make your posters/visual aids. We recommend large visual aids that can be easily seen by the examiner. Avoid much text, and have lots of images which you can refer to throughout your speech. Once you've created your poster it might be worth taking a picture of it and using that as a practise poster for your lessons up to Christmas, so the poster itself is nice and fresh for the exam itself.

Shakespeare pupils - please learn your pieces. Being off book really helps allowing you to concentrate on characterisation and staging. Please read the play you've chosen *children's adaptations of the play for Level 1 pupils are fine
